Bespoke Private Journeys
Sri Lanka - the island that rewards those who approach it properly
Private journeys across one of the world’s most richly layered islands – designed around the kind of traveller you are, not the kind everyone assumes you to be.
Island-born hosts
Historians, naturalists and family lodges a small studio, not a factory of tours.
About Us
The Serano Way
Island-born. Quietly exacting.
Serano Journeys was built on a single conviction: that the best Sri Lanka journey is the one designed specifically for the kind of traveller taking it
Sri Lanka is not one destination. It is a sacred city at dawn, a colonial tea bungalow at dusk, a leopard across a dry-zone clearing, a Galle Fort courtyard in the afternoon light and a misty Knuckles ridge. The traveller who wants to cycle between ancient monasteries needs a different journey from the one who wants Ayurveda and silence. Serano Journeys designs five different approaches to the island and none of them look like each other.
Curated Travel Pillars
Our Expertise
01
FIVE TRAVEL STYLES. NOT ONE.
Serano Journeys designs for heritage lovers, culinary explorers, wellness seekers, families and conscious eco travellers. Each receives an itinerary built specifically for how they travel, not a template with their name on it.
02
PRIVATE, ALWAYS.
No shared coaches, no group schedules. Every transfer, guide and activity is exclusively yours - paced the way you want the day to feel.
03
THE ADVANCE BOOKINGS, HANDLED.
Tea Trails bungalows, Lunuganga and Brief Garden reservations, DWC naturalist guide bookings, train observation carriage seats, Ayurveda centre confirmations - all handled before you receive your itinerary.
04
HONEST ABOUT THE ISLAND.
We tell you what a destination actually involves - the drive times, the leech season in Knuckles, when Yala Block 1 may be closed, what Tangalle seas look like in August. No fine print surprises.
05
ETHICAL TRAVEL.
No elephant riding, no wildlife baiting. All safari, marine and rainforest experiences arranged through certified ethical operators with licensed guides where legally required.
Activities
Fifteen ways in. Each one sees something the others miss.
Fifteen experiences, each with its own lens on the island
Where a day tour shapes a whole day, these experiences go deep on one thing – a craft, a habitat, a story told by someone who has spent years inside it. Where an experience shares ground with a day tour, it deliberately takes a different angle. Each can be added to a round tour or booked independently.

DAy Tours
Fifteen days. Each one built around a single idea worth travelling for.
Fifteen private days out, each planned around the hour, the route or the person that makes it work
Every day tour below starts from one well-researched insight – the right hour at the gate, the less obvious route, the specialist who changes what you see. All are private, and each can be slotted into a round tour or booked entirely on its own.

The Serano Way
Island-born. Quietly exacting.
From the sacred cities of the dry zone to the surf-lit east, Sri Lanka changes character every few hours of driving. These are the regions we return to and the ones we know how to sequence so the journey itself feels unhurried.
